Through the image
Journalist Peter Henk Steenhuis will ask visual artists exhibiting at De Ketelfactory about their sources. This concerns, rather than their own interpretations of work, the inspiration that gives rise to it. While that source might be a religious one, it could just as easily relate to philosophy, science or a certain ideology. Those who ask questions will come across a number of ideas: silence, tranquillity, an experience of oneness, purity, contact, mysticism, a different yet similar reality.
By hearing artists tell about their work, we catch a glimpse of their reality. In other words: we learn to see reality in a different way. The conversations that Steenhuis holds with the artists deal with the work as it relates to the inspiration, and with the inspiration as it relates to the work. In that sense Through the Image can be regarded as a conscious exercise in observation.
